The Product Design course entrance examination tests for subject-specific skills, such as color composition and pencil sketching, and also includes a written test. For aspiring professional designers, constant awareness of the beauty of our surroundings is fundamental, as is continuously honing underlying drawing and observation skills, sketching people, considering the connection between one’s hand and an object, as well as sense of color and composition.
In the first year, students are trained to identify and express their own self. Students confirm their pleasure in creating things, and discover the profundity and potential of design through experience.
On a residential training course students will learn the importance of social skills in product design. For example, what constitutes the product designer’s role in society, how to entertain people and how to progress through collaboration with others.
Students learn basic skills in presentation, how make mock-ups, how to observe and consider how a product is generally produced, how to develop a product from an initial concept and convey this idea to others. This allows students to acquire an overview of the full process of product design, from the product’s conception through to production.
